'DED will initiate proactive measures to interact with the logistics industry to enhance business efficiency,' said Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General for Executive Affairs at DED, who received the delegation.
The FIATA delegation was accompanied by officials from the Dubai-based National Association of Freight Logistics (NAFL), a member of the FIATA, headed by Captain Mansoor Ghafoor, President of NAFL and Mr. Issa Baluch, Former President of FIATA.
The visiting delegation and DED members exchanged views on how to enhance the quality standards of the logistics industry. A number of issues related to developing the logistics industry and ways to raise the standard of those working in the field were tackled during the meeting. Several recommendations that will contribute in developing the sector were also made.
'The meeting with FIATA is part of DED's strategy to apply the quality movement in Dubai, which is a reflection of the quest for excellence by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Dubai makes a global impact with its emphasis on quality norms and standards. This has helped the city to achieve great success and attract ever-increasing investments in business,' said Mr. Ali.
'The leadership of Dubai is committed to realizing its vision of transforming the emirate into a well-diversified economy. Dubai, indeed, has developed itself into a major commercial center in a short period of time,' said Mr Ali Ibrahim. 'The meetings with the private sector will play a key role in the Government of Dubai's endeavor to address the challenges and opportunities facing the business community especially those in logistics.'
'DED's proactive interaction with different companies and enterprises is aimed at exchanging constructive views for creating the most conducive business atmosphere in Dubai,' added Mr. Ali.

The DED is responsible for regulating the affairs of commercial agents and brokers and commercial advertising offices, in addition to overseeing and controlling the insurance industry in the Emirate.
