In all some 23,040 spectators attended over the four days of the Championship, which is owned by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, and which culminated in England's Paul Casey lifting the coveted Falcon Trophy.
'This is an excellent result and is proof positive that the Championship has a solid place on the international tournament calendar,' said Ahmed Hussein, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Golf Championship organising committee.
Spectators at this year's event witnessed considerable upgrades to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club including expansive landscaping, a new clubhouse gatehouse, an extended spectator village complete with cafes, shops and prayer rooms all undertaken to improve the arrivals experience.
'What made the attendance even more pleasing was the number of families who turned out to enjoy the tournament together,' said Hussein. 'There was plenty for everyone to see and do and it was encouraging to see so many youngsters supporting the professionals.
'We are now reviewing feedback we have received from players and visitors to assess how we can make the Championship even better for all involved next year.'
