Tunisiana scores high on Fitch credit rating

Fitch Ratings has recently given Tunisiana, the second mobile operator in Tunisia, a rating of A on the national scale and a rating of BB+ on the international one.

In October 2002, Wataniya Telecom, the leading regional mobile operator in the Middle East and North Africa, acquired 50% of Tunisiana. Since then, Tunisiana has quickly established itself at the forefront of the telecommunications sector in Tunisia.

Ahmad Haleem, Chief Executive Officer for Wataniya International, commented saying:
"Tunisiana has consistently demonstrated its commitment to enhance services for consumer and corporate customers, to invest in a high quality network and to drive the rapid development of the mobile market in Tunisia. The rating underscores our current healthy financial position and growth potential for the future."

As of December 2006, Tunisiana's subscriber based reached over 3 million active subscribers, with a network covering 99% of Tunisia's more than 10 million inhabitants. Tunisiana has more than 400 sales points across the country, and has roaming, GPRS and MMS agreements with more than 287 operators around the world. According to the same Fitch report, the company is poised to become the leading GSM operator in Tunisia with over 50% market share. The agency also estimates that Tunisiana will be able to distribute dividends for the first time in 2007.
