The event is being organised by Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) and Nuernberg Global Fairs (NGF), Germany under the patronage of his Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Middle East is known all over the globe for oil but water is the raw material whose scarcity in the region requires urgent attending. The key aim of Water Middle East is to promote the global exchange of know-how on water and energy technology and is a step towards the conservation and protection of water resources in the region.
With booming economies, growing industrialisation, increasing focus on the tourist sector and rising population with higher consumption of water the Middle East states are facing great challenges. Water is scarce and efficient water management and innovative solutions for the optimum use and distribution of water resources becomes of vital significance. This is where Water Middle East will play a vital role of bringing together experts of international caliber under one common roof to discuss all areas of water.
Water shortage, solutions and technologies will bring the region's water experts and decision-makers together. In addition to the basic shortage of water resources, the event will also focus on the technical know-how which the region lacks. Almost all technologies associated with water are imported, intra-regional grids are hardly developed and virtually no technology transfer takes place.
Water Middle East 2007 is built on three crucial elements. First, the trade show will offer a world of solutions leading to efficient water management. Next, the conference which will be running alongside the exhibition where top speakers are scheduled to present their expertise on areas related to water resources management, drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, re-use, irrigation, agriculture, sewer systems, supply networks and distribution, etc. The third element will be the Industry Forum which will highlight currently used technologies offered by various manufacturers and suppliers.
As in other business sectors, with Water Middle East, Bahrain is successfully placing itself as an industrial and technology hub beyond the borders of this progressive island state. This year the event is anticipated to attract over 60 exhibitors, 40 expert speakers and around 400 conference delegates from The Middle East, GCC countries, Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy and Netherlands), Turkey, China, India, Canada and the United States of America.
Visitors are expected from the sectors of water recovery, desalination, treatment, distribution, irrigation, waste water discharge, waste water treatment, renovation and modernisation of plant, drains and pipes. The main groups of visitors will be government representatives, consultants, decision makers and engineers from operators, industry and service providers, scientists and other industry experts - primarily from countries in the Arab world.
Water Middle East 2007 will be held concurrently with Power-Gen Middle East (PGME) 2007 and will remain open daily from 10:00 am to 1800 pm.
