The exhibition will be held from January 24-27 event at the Cairo International Conferences Centre in Egypt.

The latest addition to WD's high-profile hard drive series is the WD MyBook PRO Edition II, which allows users to add massive secure backup storage for their business files, music, videos, photos and games. The new storage system provides users a safe place to secure as much as one terabyte (1TB) of digital content, and offers a failsafe system using RAID technology that will instantaneously duplicate user data for extra protection or to accelerate the delivery of data to users.

WD's Hafeez Khawaja, Senior Regional Director for Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and Scott Davis, VP International Sales will lead the company's delegation to the international trade fair. The two senior management officials' attendance underscores WD's ongoing campaign in the Egyptian market, where it is increasing its presence throughout the country.

"After very encouraging results at ACITEX 2006, we are returning with increased enthusiasm and determination, bringing another of our world-class product series to the Egyptian market as well as Middle Eastern and African consumers,"

said Khawaja. "This vibrant market has been very receptive to the innovative products that we have introduced, prompting us to build on earlier successes by bringing out new offerings such as the MyBook Pro Series."

"The MyBook Pro Series is technologically enhanced with extra data protection systems to ensure security. The drive is a highly practical tool for small-office environments where large amounts of content is managed, and for consumers who have a wide array of important collections of music, photos, videos and other documents," he added.

The MyBook Pro Edition II system can be set to reserve half of its capacity to mirror users' data in real time using RAID technology. This means that when data is saved to the MyBook Pro Edition II system, two copies of the data are simultaneously recorded - each on a separate internal hard drive. In the unlikely event that one of the hard drives fails, the other will continue to read and write data until the faulty drive is replaced and rebuilt to once again mirror the data.

"Despite its new-age features, this series of external drives is extremely simple to use, comes with massive storage capacities, triple interface and very efficient and user-friendly backup software, and boasts an extremely stylish and elegant design," he explained.

Aside from presenting WD's whole range of products, the company's senior officials will be on hand to assist and interact with visitors, helping promote the WD brand and stir awareness about the stringent quality standards adhered to in manufacturing its systems.

"Trade visitors will be able to take advantage of much more personalized customer assistance as senior officials will be at the site to provide hands-on demonstrations on different products," said Davis. "This will be both an educational opportunity for visitors, corporate clients and the media to learn more about the company and its products, and an opportunity for Western Digital to boost consumer confidence and ultimately drive sales in this region, which is experiencing surging demands for internal and external hard drives and other computer hardware."

Aside from a portfolio of high-quality hard drives designed to generate enhanced IT benefits for its consumers, also to be highlighted in the exhibit are WD's other key products such as the next-generation WD Passport® drives. WD's newly redesigned WD Passport Portable Drives have grown in storage capacity and have shrunk in physical size. Featuring a stylish, ultra-portable design and sleek, piano-black finish, WD Passport is available in 60, 80, 120 and 160 gigabytes, fits easily in the pocket or purse and weighs less than five ounces.
