EMS firmly focused on future Blackberry® growth opportunities
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 23 - 2007 at 11:43
- PRESS RELEASE
Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS), a strategic channel partner to Research In Motion (Blackberry), announces the appointment of Mr. Babar Khan as the CEO of EMS.
With contracts already in place with major mobile operators across the Gulf, including Etisalat, Batelco and Mobily, EMS is committed to extending future BlackBerry reach in the region.
Mr. Khan says his appointment comes at an exciting time, where the emerging markets are witnessing tremendous growth.
"EMS is very well positioned to support carriers and corporate clients in the region and provide customized solutions for Blackberry, enabling customers to 'take their office with them' and benefit from the popular and proven benefits of the BlackBerry solution," he said.
BlackBerry is an 'always-on, always-connected', wireless voice and data service designed for corporate customers and consumers. "With more than 7 million customers around the world, BlackBerry has become a recognized brand name throughout North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, EMS plans to make it number one choice for the corporate and consumer market," Mr. Khan said.
As President & CEO of Pak Telecom Mobile Ltd(Ufone), the second largest GSM cellular operator in Pakistan, Mr. Khan saw the company grow from a subscriber base of 500,000 to 10 million, against stiff competition from international phone companies.
Prior to his appointment at Ufone, he worked with Motorola Inc as Regional Head of Solutions Marketing for Middle East & Africa (MEA), heading the GTSS solutions marketing for the Middle East, Africa, Pakistan and Afghanistan region.
Mr. Khan was associated with the GSM Cellular Operator in Pakistan in the 1990s, working on both the technical and the customer care side of operations and held the positions of General Manager Customer Care and Chief Technical Officer in the company. His early telecommunications experience was in USA and Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Khan holds a Masters of Electrical Engineering and degrees from City College of New York, USA and has more than 14 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with extensive exposure in the regional and international telecoms market.
