RTA provides the airport taxi fleet with 30 new cars

The Public Transport Agency in the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) provides the Dubai Airport Section's fleet in Dubai Taxi with 30 new Volvo cars.

To serve passengers coming through Dubai International Airport, to be added to 258 cars currently operating at the airport, including two vehicles for people with special needs and driven by 560 drivers including 17 women drivers.

Mr. Ammar bin Tamim, Director of Dubai Taxi said that we selected Volvo cars based on the survey conducted by the Department for the users of airport taxi, on their preferred vehicles, and monitor the services provided by the company.

He added that in the framework of keenness of Dubai taxi to combine the safety and security, comfort and luxury, and in line with the RTA strategic plan in providing superior service to meet the requirements of various groups of society, the new cars been provided with advanced techniques such as a DVD and navigation system (GPS) for easy customers delivery to the specified site or location with best ways and most tracks.

Mr. Bin Tamim clarified that the drivers of Dubai airport service have capabilities and special specifications distinguish them from other taxi drivers who roam the streets in Dubai, such as proficiency in a number of languages such as Arabic, English, and other Asian languages, and high level of education, tact in the way of dealing.

He pointed out that all drivers who will operate the new cars had undergone with advanced theoretical and practical courses in how to use safety and security systems in the vehicle, in addition to courses in driving skills and dealing with passengers and tourists as well as familiarity with various sites of government authorities and tourist and entertainment sites and other areas in the emirate.

The Director of Dubai Taxi noted that the number of users for Dubai Taxi service from Dubai International Airport last December amounted to 240,164 passengers was transported through 120,073 trips.

To be mentioned that Dubai Taxi launched in the beginning of this month, the "Ladies Taxi" service to meet the requirements of the ladies who have expressed the desire to ensure their own taxi service with all the standards of comfort, safety and privacy during their transport.

Bin Tamim said that 50 modern and comfortable vehicles been operated in the first stage, taking into account the privacy of women and characterized its roof with pink color, and driven by 100 qualified women with high levels of training in the driving and the methods of dealing with the public in accordance with the traditions of society.

The "Ladies Taxi" exists in the various sites and facilities in Dubai and from there to all other emirates and can also requested the service through reservation and information service on the telephone No. 04-2080808, he said, pointing out that the service is provided seven days a week, from 6:00am till 1:00am after midnight around-the-clock.
