DP World hosts naming ceremony of new Eukor vessel

DP World- UAE today hosted the naming ceremony of the newest vessel to join the fleet of Eukor Car Carriers Inc, one of the world's largest shipping companies specialized in transporting automobiles, and the largest volume carrier for RO-RO (Roll On-Roll Off) business at Port Rashid.
The naming ceremony was attended by senior corporate officials of Eukor and key partners, including Mr. Carl-Johan Hagman, President and CEO, Eukor; Mr. Jonas Kleberg, Chairman, Wallenius Lines, Mr. Moo-Soo Hwang Vice CEO, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DP World - UAE.
During the ceremony, Muallem said: "We have been in business with Eukor for more than 20 years. Such a long-standing relationship is a testament to our commitment to support the growth and development of our partners. The decision to hold the naming ceremony at Port Rashid underlines our strong ties, and reflects Dubai's strategic importance as a global shipping hub.
"We are confident the Morning Chorus will further foster the success of the company, and will help Eukor realise both its short and long-term business objectives."
Ranked the 9th Top Container Port Worldwide and voted the Best Seaport in the Middle East 12 times, DP World- UAE operates world-class berthing facilities for RO-RO vessels and pure car and truck carriers at both Port Rashid and Jebel Ali Port.
The Port facilities are complemented by large short and long-term storage spaces for cars, buses and construction vehicles imported for both local and re-export markets. Port Rashid recorded 679 RO-RO vessel calls in 2006.
EUKOR directly operates over 85 specialised vessels, and maintains 15 to 20 additional ships on short-term arrangements, and annually transporting over three million cars to 160 different ports in 110 countries.
