Gold delinking from oil

Commodity experts feel 2007 could see gold prices decoupled to some extent from the fate of oil prices, reported Reuters. Since the turn of the year, gold prices have held firm after early dips due to investment buying, safe haven demand and its use as a monetary vehicle. Oil, on the other hand, despite Opec output cutbacks, has seen further significant falls in the first few weeks of the year.
