Singapore has become one of the most popular countries for Middle East patients seeking healthcare abroad.
Around 20 companies are traveling to Dubai for the exhibition, accompanying a significant delegation of doctors and medical experts, who will be speaking at the conference sessions.

Among the exhibitors will be The West Clinic, a premier cancer centre from the United States which recently set up The West Clinic Excellence Cancer Centre in Singapore.

Advanced institutions like The West Clinic contribute to Singapore's status as an advanced healthcare hub, which attracts patients from around the world looking for cutting-edge surgery and treatment options.

The Centre provides world-class medical treatment to cancer patients in South East Asia by US physicians and nurses. It employs state-of-the-art imaging technologies including Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography (PET/CT).

Singapore's healthcare system prioritizes advanced treatment and care which only a few countries are able to offer, and advanced cancer treatment and research is one of its major areas of expertise.

While major improvements in the therapies used to treat the various cancers are discovered, international demand will continue to rise with the increase in the incidence of cancer globally.

"Groups like The West Clinic are establishing facilities in Singapore because of our strong range of human and technological healthcare resources and for our positioning at the heart of the Asian market. As more specialist groups set up in Singapore, we are confident that Singapore is able to offer a complete range of healthcare services to patients from the Middle East,"

said Ke-Wei Peh, Area Director for the Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board.

In 2005, a total of 374,000 international patients visited Singapore, an increase of 15 percent on the previous year.

Ranked by the World Health Organization as having the best health system in Asia ahead of Japan and the US, the nation has first-rate health care with a multitude of specialized, expert treatments in oncology, as well as other areas such as haematology, cardiology, and ophthalmology.

In 2006, an average of 200 people from the Middle East sought medical care in Singapore, an increase of 20 percent over last year.

Singapore healthcare companies participating in Arab Health 2007 include CADI Scientific Pte Lts, The DRx Clinic Pte Ltd, Ezyhealth Singapore Pte Ltd, Global Wellness and Travel, HealthSTATS International Pte Ltd, JMS Singapore Pte Ltd, Micro Filtration Technology Pte Ltd, Neotec Medical Industries Pte Ltd, Rockeby biomed Pte ltd, Singapore Health Services, Susan Lim Surgery Group Surgical Practice and The West Clinic Excellence Cancer Center.
