RTA amends Licensing Department Structure

H.E Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has laid down a decision to amend the organizational structure of the Licensing Department.
Engineer Maitha Mohammed Bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, announced that the new amendment comes in line with the RTA's policy and within its comprehensive strategy in the continuity of developing integrated solutions for the traffic and roads systems in Dubai stemming from the study and found the best experiences and global practices and applicable locally for the traffic fields, including the examination of drivers and vehicles cope with the economic development taking place in Dubai.
She said that the amending steps included the addition of research and studies office in addition of three new sections which includes the Inspection and Control Section the section of driving training institutes and number plate section, in addition to developing the sections which is already existing in the department which includes the commercial licensing, the licensing of drivers and the vehicle licensing, as all these amendments aimed at improving the standard of performance and to facilitate services and to reduce procedural steps to achieve excellence and quality and improving customer service to the best level.
The CEO of traffic and roads Agency, added that the decision has been made in order to improve the operational plan of licensing department according to the new structure to be in line with the vision of the RTA to be in line with the comprehensive strategy of the Emirate of Dubai.
Accordingly Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Shaer, Acting Director of Licensing Department, said that the RTA is looking forward through the change in the structure of the Department to add new values to a series of its excellent services provided to the public.
He pointed out that the responsibility of the Research and Studies office is to conduct all researches and studies concerning traffic matters according to local and federal legislations, prepare studies on the technical requirements, in addition to its role to search for global best practices concerning the examination and licensing of vehicles and drivers and conducting studies on methods of transfer the successful experiences and expertise to Dubai.
He added that the amendment also included a new section for the model driving institutes to be responsible for the improvement of the mechanism of the licensing for learning driving institutes and supervision of training and teaching process. The section will be access also to the world's advanced experience and their suitability for application in Dubai.
Al Shaer said also that that the new inspection section which has been added, will be responsible for all the sections of the licensing Department, including the car rental offices, model institutes, registration stations and will control the performance of these section and to insure the applying of the rules regulations in line with the local and federal legislation, meanwhile the plate numbers section will be responsible for launching the numbers of vehicles and to improve a methodology for the sales of numbers.
He noted out that the Department of the licensing department also includes the licensing of vehicles, licensing of drivers and the commercial of licensing as will as the sections that have been added according to the recent decision to amend the organizational structure of the Department.
