GAMCO gains "Aviation Partner Boeing" approval for fitting fuel saving blended winglets
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 30 - 2007 at 16:13
- PRESS RELEASE
Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO) announced completion of its first Boeing 757-200 aircraft modification incorporating "Boeing Blended Winglets".
"This capability and approval is a huge boost to our business. With high fuel prices contributing to such a large percentage of an airline's expenses, investing in Blended Winglets makes sense even for older aircraft," says Saif Al Mughairy, GAMCO's CEO.
"Performance advantages of Blended Winglet Technology for the Boeing 757 are as compelling and dramatic as the fuel saving benefits. In today's tough airline operating environment Blended Winglet Technology gives operators a competitive edge," he added.
Blended Winglets improve aerodynamic efficiency of an aircraft. A Boeing 757 equipped with Blended Winglets burns up to 5% less block fuel which is addition to the commercial advantage, benefits the environment through reduced engine emissions of carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide.
