Golf superstar Montgomerie gives the go ahead for work to begin on Riffa Views golf course

Montgomerie, who was in Bahrain for the first in a series of site inspections, met with management of Riffa Views and the Riffa Golf Club as well as the club's members to talk about plans for the golf course which he has designed in association with European Golf Design, the joint venture design company of the European Tour and IMG, with whom he worked with at Carton House, Ireland. The plans include an 18-hole Tournament golf course and 9-hole short course, with the ultra-luxurious new facilities opening for play at the beginning of April 2008.

A joint venture between Nass Contracting Co. WLL and Braemar Golf Development will build the golf course which will be a core feature of the luxury residential development which is unusually woven around the course, providing unmatched, spectacularly landscaped views.

Commenting on his visions for the golf course designs, Mr Montgomerie said:

"Being involved with the Riffa Views project is enormously exciting, and this is a great opportunity to meet with Bahrain's golfing community and potential future residents of the Signature Estates and talk about my plans for the golf course, and to gather their feedback."
