QAPCO wins 3 prizes for multi-contributions to 7th Arab International Plastic & Rubber Industry Show 'Arabplast'

Qatar Petrochemical Co. (QAPCO) has participated as a main sponsor in the 7th Arab International Plastic & Rubber Industry Show "Arabplast", which was held at Dubai International Exhibition Center in Dubai-UAE, 13-16 Jan. 2007.

QAPCO's delegation to the Exhibition was headed by Eng. Hamad Rashid Al-Mohanadi, Vice Chairman of Board Directors and General Manager, Mr. Mohd Jassim Al-Na'ama, Public Relations Manager, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Abdullah, Marketing Manager, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Mulla, Director of QAPCO's commercial office in Dubai.

The delegation also included three Heads of Regional Sales. They were Mr. Yousef Darweesh Fakhro, Mr. Ahmad Al-Emadi, Mr. Refti Raman. Present were also Mr. Mohd Abdul Rahman, Head of Central Lab and Technical Support, Paulo Roberto and Mr. Tako Fuad, from Technical Services and Mr. Amin Al-Dib, Public Relations exhibition Officer.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Sheikh Hasher Maktoum Al-Maktoum, Director of Dubai Department of Information. Over 750 leading exhibitors from more than 36 countries participated in the exhibition. They came from Asia, Europe and far east, as well as GCC countries.

Sheikh Al-Maktoum, accompanied by Eng. Hamad Rashid Al-Mohanadi, Vice Chairman of Board Directors and General Manager toured Arabplast and viewed the up-to date machinery and technology in petrochemical and plastic industry in the region. They visited QAPCO's stand and showed their admiration, interest and appreciation for the efforts exerted and commended the stand's design, well-reception and organization. Distinguished and famous dignitaries visited the stand including QAPCO's agents, customers and directors of liaison offices in Syria, Bangladesh and Algeria.

Eng. Al-Mohanadi, declared that GCC produces 12-15% of the total world production of petrochemicals and that most of its production is designed for export. The volume of this production in 2012 is expected to reach 30% of the world production. He said that Qatar is now producing about 9 mn ton of petrochemicals, and that our plan aims to reach 18 mn tons in 2008 and 28 mn tons in 2012. He added that the GCC consumption of petrochemicals is growing up and that many end users have started looking for a position in the markets, or somewhere close to the raw materials resources. Some World companies are heading for setting up own branches in the Gulf.

"We encourage the private sector in developing their plastic products which are used in many industries today. A Gulf Petrochemical & Chemical Association (GPCA) has been recently established in Dubai and QAPCO is one of its eight founders."

On the second day of the exhibition, a reception dinner party was held for the customers under the patronage of Eng. Hamad Rashid Al-Mohanadi, Vice Chairman of Board Directors and General Manager of QAPCO. The delegation discussed with customers all business matters, and later some gifts were presented to customers.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Abdullah, Marketing Manager, has delivered a welcoming speech saying, "2006 has been another exceptional year for QAPCO, with outstanding operational and financial results, to complement our continuous efforts and success in building a global marketing and supply chain network that strives on excellence in customers' services and outstanding products' quality that had won your trust over the years, and to meet their increasing demands of petrochemicals. Such exceptional achievements and success couldn't be possible without the wise visionary leadership and guidance of QAPCO's VC and GM Engineer Hamad Rashid Al-Mohanadi."

He pointed out that participation in this event is a continuation of the constant efforts exerted to strengthen the communication channels with over 4500 customers in over 89 countries, and thus to establish a solid relation with them and to cater for their requirements. He also said that the company is striving to keep up the competitive position in the world market as a leading supplier of LDPE and in the near future LLDPE, when Qatofin project is completed in the 4th quarter of 2008.

In conjunction with Arabplast 2007, a Petrochemicals summit Conference about was held at Crown plaza Dubai and inaugurated by Eng. Al-Mohanadi. Elite specialists took part in the conference; many important topics on their agenda were discussed regarding investments and growth opportunities. Later that morning, the Marketing quarterly meeting was held by QAPCO's team in Marriott Hotel in Dubai.

Throughout the summit Conference, a detailed presentation was made at Dubai Exhibitions Center by Mr. Paulo Roberto, and Mr. Tako Fuad from Central Lab and Technical Support. The presentation entitled" BREAKTHROUGH AND APPLICATIONS IN BLENDS OF LDPE AND LLDPE".

About 200 people attended the conference. The issues mainly focused on the future of packaging in food, heavy duty sacks, general purpose applications etc., and the efforts to promote our Lotrene resins and its applications, and how to have the best performance in packaging. Ample information and data were given about Polyethylene grades and applications in the thermoplastics. All aspects of the plastics industry were fairly covered.

Throughout the exhibition, some promotional brochures and printing materials were distributed as well as technical pamphlets with data figures about different Petrochemical products of the company.

At the end of the exhibition, 3 prizes were awarded to QAPCO by the Special Committee including officials from the Trade Center and other government organizations in Dubai. The first prize was for the best stand design at Arabplast and received by Mr. Ibrahim Al-Mulla, Director of QAPCO's liaison office. The second one was for sponsoring Arabplast and received by Mr. Mohd Jassim Al-Na'ama, PR Manager, and the third one was for the biggest exhibitor and received by Mr. Amin Al-Dib, PR Exhibition Officer.

Mr. Mohd Jassim Al-Na'am, PR Manager, said that this Arabplast exhibition was characterized by an increase of visitors, by the number of participating countries and the large areas of the participating stands.

Mr. Al-Na'ama added that QAPO's stand had been a great success. "It has won the admiration and appreciation of the customers and the participating exhibitors. The success of this exhibition is basically attributed to the unlimited support and care shown by QAPCO's management, represented by HE Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Board Directors and also to Eng. Hamad Rashid, Vice Chairman of Board Directors and General Manager of QAPCO."

Through attending the regional, international and world exhibitions, QAPCO aims at expanding its business relations, marketing its products of polyethylene, increasing the number of its prospective customers, getting closer to the customers to understand and meet their viewpoints and ultimately offering the best possible services to them.
