Dubai, non-oil trade up 8.9%

Dubai's non-oil foreign trade through its eight free zones recorded an 8.9% increase during 2006, as compared to 2005. Figures compiled by the Statistics Department of Dubai World show the total value of non-oil trade amounted to $52.7bn as opposed to $48.4bn in 2005. Iran was the number one export destination, followed by Saudi Arabia, while China provided the most imports to Dubai, with Japan in second place.
