- PRESS RELEASE
Seventy-seven ace shooters from all over the world, including eight from the UAE and the Middle East region, have confirmed their participation in the world's richest shooting challenge with AED1 million in prize money.
Dubai Shooting 2007 is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Hasher Al Maktoum, who won the first Olympic Gold for the UAE at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
Speaking at the press conference, Sheikh Ahmed explained that with Dubai investing in several new sporting attractions, it was timely to bring in professional shooting to the emirate's sports calendar.
"Professional shooting is not only a subject close to my heart, but is also gaining global popularity as a highly skilful and prestigious sport. I am confident that this event will provide a significant exposure for the local sporting talent and further boost our international recognition in this area. I look forward to welcoming some of the finest local and global shooters to this mega event and also call upon the public to come and partake of the excitement," he said.
Dubai Shooting 2007 is being presented by the ETA Ascon Group and supported by the UAE Shooting Association. It is organised by Star Events, an International exhibitions and event management company, which is part of the diversified ETA Ascon Group.
