If anyone is qualified to speak on the subject, it is Abagnale, who in the past was himself a master fraudster and was most recently portrayed by Leonardo De Caprio in Steven Spielberg's motion picture 'Catch Me If You Can.'
He has since become a major proponent in the prevention of fraud, teaching and assisting federal law enforcement agencies, public and private organisations around the world in combating such practices.
The event will centre on the latest fraud techniques and technologies, including embezzlement, forgery, counterfeiting, cheque fraud and identity theft. It will also look at the vulnerability of organisations and how they can detect, investigate and prevent this type of crime.
As a speaker, Abagnale is in enormous demand around the world and has become known for his quick wit, knowledge and insightfulness. Those who attend are unlikely to be left disappointed.
'It is testament of the growth of Dubai that the city is attracting such a prestigious name as Frank Abagnale,' says Marie-Hélène Couture, Conference Manager at IIR Middle East. 'It is also a very appropriate time for an event like this. As the market grows and the nature of business becomes more complex, there is so much more at stake if companies leave themselves unprotected.'
Also speaking will be Alan Brill, a world-renowned expert on computer fraud and identity theft. His executive briefing session will provide an insider's view of corporate fraud and strategies for closing security weakpoints before one becomes victimised by them. Brill has taught as a guest lecturer for the FBI, Secret Service, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Alan is on the advisory Board of the Center for International Financial Crime Studies. He has visited the Middle East on numerous ocassions to assist private corporations in protecting themselves against fraud.
