Bahrain's Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa has told the McKinsey Quarterly business journal that he doubts monetary union will occur in the GCC region by 2010 as many issues remain unresolved, reported Reuters. Al Khalifa said convergence criteria for inflation, public debt and interest rates have yet to be agreed. Last week, Bahrain's Central Bank Governor Rashid Al Maraj described the 2010 deadline as a 'challenge'.
