Estarta Solutions and Savola Group partner to apply leading management techniques
- Saudi Arabia: Wednesday, October 16 - 2002 at 14:20
- PRESS RELEASE
Estarta Solutions successfully released and deployed AWLA version 1.0 at The Savola Group headquarters in Jeddah today.
The web-based application that was built to serve the strategic corporate needs of The Savola Group of companies, is a unique application that stems from the Balanced Scorecard business methodology, and various time and people management philosophies. The application is based on the vision of The Savola Group's leadership and the technical implementation expertise of Estarta Solutions.
"AWLA will enable our company to align its efforts with our set of business scorecard indicators and achieve them effectively. It will also allow for the individual members of our organization to balance their personal goals with their business related tasks and initiatives, with their role as leaders in the organization and with their responsibility to themselves to continuously develop and improve", stated Eng. Adel Fakieh, Chairman and Managing Director of the Savola Group.
Estarta partnered with Royah.com, the IT arm of Savola in realizing this new concept. The partnership brought synergy with Estarta providing their extensive expertise in developing commercial grade n-tier web applications leveraging Microsoft technologies, and Royah in their experience in data management and data-centre hosting experience.
"We built AWLA to address the specific business and personnel needs of Savola but with a broader goal of making the application a stand-alone product that Savola can share with its partners and clients" stated Mr. Ennis Rimawi, Chairman and President at Estarta Solutions.
Mr. Majied Qasem, VP of Services at Estarta Solutions, continued to state "Using Microsoft .NET as a framework allowed us to have a component based architecture that is modular to scale, adjust and maintain. The initial data repository uses Oracle RDMBS but we can easily exchange with other DB vendors that better fits the target host. The presentation layer is thin leveraging the new .NET server side controls. The application runs in a web browser with zero foot print on the client, and can easily extend to address different concurrent clients such as PDAs or even simple SMS based cellular phones."
The Savola Group is a leading multinational food group in Saudi Arabia, founded in 1979 as a manufacturer of edible oils for the Saudi Arabian market. Through its thought leadership Savola has become one of the most successful and fastest growing food groups in the Middle East with a wide portfolio of business interests. In addition to edible oils, the Savola Group operates one of the largest sugar refineries in the Middle East, the United Sugar Company; owns and operates the Azizia Panda retail store chain; and is involved in plastic packaging.
Estarta Solutions is a result of a merger between two established international IT solutions leaders based in Jordan, ONEWORLD Jordan and Zeine Technological Applications.
