Carpet Oasis records Dhs58 million in sales

Sales at Carpet Oasis, a much sought after venue for carpets and antiques during DSF 2006-2007, reached a monumental Dhs58 million, with Dhs37 million worth of business conducted between merchants.
Abdul Rahman Eisa, Head of the Carpet Oasis Organising Committee said, "Carpet Oasis sold 7,000 carpets and 300 antiques bringing the total of items sold to 7,300. Visitor numbers reached 15,137 and this figure is much higher than what we witnessed in the last edition of DSF."
Covering a massive area of 12,000 square metres, the venue housed around 150,000 carpets, ranging from the exquisite to the rarest. The total value of the entire stock reached an astonishing Dh1 billion with 72 exhibitors from all over the world also displaying antiques. The main exhibitors were from within the UAE, Iran, China, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan.
A majority of the visitors to the Carpet Oasis comprised of Arabs, followed by a considerable number from Iran, India, Pakistan, and the Philippines. Compared to the last edition, a remarkable number of visitors from Europe also made it to the exhibition this year.
