International photographers to share secrets at Gulf Photo Plus 2007
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, February 07 - 2007 at 10:48
- PRESS RELEASE
Gulf Photo Plus (GPP) 2007, the region's only Photography Experience Event taking place at Knowledge Village in Dubai Internet City, brings 14 leading international photographers and image software experts to Dubai from 20th to 25th March for a full program of workshops and learning for photographers of all levels.
The organizers of GPP 2007 have devised a program to meet every need with over 60 workshops and the popular 'Photo Friday' lectures and presentations. The event program offers topics ranging from Kick Start in DSL, Studio Lighting, Flash Photography and Portraiture to Fashion and Wedding Photography. There is a topic, expertise level and scheduled time and date to suit everyone.
Workshops are led by experienced teachers who are also working experts in their field. Robin Nichols, editor of Better Digital Australia will present How to Take Better Photos with a Point and Shoot Camera; and Getting Started in Photoshop Elements. Getting to Know your DSLR and Understanding Exposure will be presented by Bryan Peterson protégé, Chris Hurtt, while Jack Picone co-founder of WorkshopAsia leads an intensive course on Photojournalism and Bobbi Lane shares her tips as they appear on her latest DVD about Family and Portrait Photography.
Other workshops include Start Up Studio and Shooting Stock in Your Garage, with Charlie Borland; Food Photography with Oz Newcombe, Fashion and Wedding Photography with Vogue photographer Janusz Kawa, PR and Events with Tom Percy and much more.
According to GPP founder, Karen Hook, each year GPP aims to create unique experiences and workshops that would be difficult for people to arrange individually. In conjunction with HeliDubai, GPP provides an exciting opportunity for a very limited number of students to harness up and learn first hand what it is like to be an aerial photographer with Nikon's Joe McNally. Participants get to 'hang out' over the Dubai Creek and Sheikh Zayed Road and feel the wind in their hair while taking some spectacular shots of the city below.
Since digital photography does not stop after you press the shutter button, learning how to enhance and share images will also be covered during the 6-day GPP event. Three leading experts -- Robin Nichols and David Nightingale, will provide hands-on instruction on methods to make images jump off the page while professional photographers, graphic designers and enthusiastic amateurs looking for profound insights and tips on Photoshop will be taught by Ben Wilmore -- a member of the ADOBE Dream Team and co-author of 'How To WOW ' books. Ben will also preview and reveal some of the new features of Photoshop CS3- before its release in April 2007.
"There really is something for everyone with a passion for photography at this year's Gulf Photo Plus event; from the amateur holiday snapper to the professional." said Karen Hook.
"...for the first time, this year, Gulf Photo Plus will offer a new topic called moving photography with full day workshops on the craft of Home-Video, Movie Making and Creative Video Editing providing enthusiasts with the opportunity to learn how to create entertaining and professionally finished footage." she said.
Those who cannot afford the time to attend full-day workshops can come along to Time Out's 'Photo Friday' event and top up on tips and techniques from a choice of more than 20 different lecture topics, mini-workshops and live demonstrations from instructing photographers and brand experts.
Prices range from free presentations at Photo Friday or for a cost a place in the HeliDubai Aerial Photography workshop with renowned photographer Joe McNally.
