Dubai-headquartered Spa Resources Middle East (SRME), the Gulf's only spa development consultancy, has won a contract to conceptualise and design two multi-treatment rooms for the M/S Kempinski Ganna, the first cruise ship to be operated by Kempinski Hotels & Resorts, Europe's oldest luxury hotel group.

The state-of-the-art M/S Kempinski Ganna liner will be the largest vessel on the Nile when it takes its maiden voyage between Luxor and Aswan this month.

The ship has 70 deluxe rooms and four suites. Facilities include a gourmet restaurant, live entertainment, bars, reading room, gymnasium, boutiques and swimming pool as well as extensive leisure facilities.

"The introduction of multi-treatment rooms to this five-star vessel reflects Kempinski's commitment to serving growing international demand for wellness facilities while vacationing," said Michael Hill, Manager, SRME. "The wellness offering will provide for a range of luxurious treatments which will greatly add to the luxury atmosphere of this new vessel."

The M/S Kempinski Ganna is the second contract to be awarded to SRME by Kempinski Hotels & Resorts within a month. Last month it won a consultancy contract to design a 600-square metre spa for Kuwait's Kempinski Julai'a Hotel & Resort. The spa will have 11 treatment rooms, a gymnasium, sauna and bath.

Ulrich Eckhardt, Area Vice-President Middle East for Kempinski Hotels & Resorts said, "We are very pleased to have identified SRME as a partner for the two upcoming Kempinski projects in the Middle East and feel confident that their state of the art spas will enhance the experience of our future guests in the region."

The M/S Kempinski Ganna award is SRME's 10th contract in the Middle East.

"The surge in development of new hotel and leisure projects is providing a huge boost to the region's wellness sector," said Hill. "A well-designed and managed spa is fast becoming a must-have feature for luxury properties and destinations around the region."

SRME owns and manages Dubai's luxury Cleopatra's Spa brand. It recently bagged the exclusive regional distribution rights for Ionithermie, the world-leading, anti-cellulite inch loss treatment and equipment, and is also Middle East distributor for Elemis beauty products and O-lys light treatments.
