Cairo ICT 2007 wraps up its efficiencies amid an unprecedented media attendance to witness Dr. Hoda Baraka's, First Advisor to the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, last word as moderator of the last session attended by his Excellency Dr. Ali Mosselhi, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Eng. Alaa Fahmy, Chairman of the NPO.
Dr. Mosselhi, revealed during the session the ministry's plan along the upcoming period elaborating that it is targeting the delivery of support to its rightful people. Field experiments have started already in two governorates one of them in the Delta and the other in Upper Egypt.
Moselhi underscored that the use of ICTs will not work if we don't build an updated database and infrastructure. Transparency is also an important element in delivering these social services to the citizens and technology is the second side of the transparency coin. The ministry is now working on increasing the services channels and will resort to the NPO to benefit from its presence all over the country.
According to the minister, it is not sensible to manage the files of 15 million individuals through the traditional old methods of piles and piles of paper, therefore; the ministry is currently working on developing an updated database for the families who are rightful deservers of the ministry's efforts and support.
Eng. Alaa Fahmy, NPO Chairman, stated that the state considers ICT as a major player in pushing forward the economic train. The whole government's vision now is all targeting an ICT community to be the pillar for economic and social development.
