  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, February 11 - 2007 at 10:45
  • PRESS RELEASE

Dr Robert Kaplan, co-creator of the worldwide phenomenon 'Balanced Scorecard' (BSC), will be one of several leading authorities on maximising business performance speaking at the JW Marriot Hotel, Dubai, from 25 February to 1 March 2007 and hosted by events organiser IIR Middle East.

The BSC model, originally designed by Drs Kaplan and David Norton, centres on measuring a set of key strategic business processes and initiating practical and ongoing improvement measures.

A number of world-class corporations across a wide range of industries around the world including Mobil Oil and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi have since embraced the model.

The first day of the event will be dedicated to tackling organisational misalignment - the topic of Kaplan and Norton's new book, 'Alignment.' Organisations, the authors argue, often fall victim to conflicting interests between individual business units internally, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders externally. They go on to suggest ways to reduce what can be an extremely destructive force for businesses.

On subsequent days some of the BSC's leading authorities will provide their own insights and present a number of practical case studies. Key addresses will include Mathias Mangels, Vice President of Palladium/Balanced Scorecard Collaborative and Sohbi Batterjee, President of the Saudi German Hospital Group.

"This promises to be one of the premier Middle East events of the year, with speakers including the top executives of Kinnarps (BSC Collaborative Hall of Fame Winner), Riyad Bank, ADNOC, Motorola, Dubai World, the Emirates Group - and of course Dr Kaplan," says Katie Lawrence, Conference Manager at IIR.

"Delegates can be assured that they'll leave the event with some valuable insights on how they can improve their own organisations."
