Middle East Electricity 2007 opens with record visitor attendance

"There has been a 40% increase in registered visitors this year, and the key decision makers from the region's energy industry are turning out in force to meet companies that represent the best that the region and the world have to offer," said Sarah Woodbridge, Group Director Exhibitions, IIR Middle East - organisers of the event. "Covering 20% more exhibition space than in 2006, this is without doubt the most comprehensive showcase of energy related products and services ever staged in the region - the breadth of innovative solutions on show makes it an absolutely essential visit for energy industry professionals."

With a dedicated focus on power generation, gas and new & renewable energy, the exhibition features over 850 local and international exhibitors from 53 countries. Middle East Electricity 2007 showcases the largest ever German participation at any energy event anywhere in the world plus the largest Italian Pavilion ever seen at Middle East Electricity, clearly showing why visitors and exhibitors rate it as the top show of its kind in the world.

Lighting at Middle East Electricity, which is by far the region's largest ever showcase of local and international lighting expertise, covers over 4,500 square metres and features more than 300 lighting related companies. The largest and longest-running lighting exhibition in the region, it is rated as the essential, comprehensive showcase for the industrial, commercial and residential lighting sectors.

New for 2007, Water at Middle East Electricity allows visitors to assess the latest products and services from the water, desalination and waste water industries. A one day water conference will also be held on Monday 12th February.

"All of the world's major energy powerhouses, including Siemens, Coopers, Honeywell, Cummins, Danway, Prysmian, Al-Babtain Power & Telecommunication, KEMA, Lucy, Perkins, Erico, Areva, Rolls Royce, Tyco, Actaris, Panasonic, Rittal, AKSA, Weidmüller and Iveco are represented at the show," added Woodbridge. "Many exhibitors who were here for the first time in 2006 have also returned, having enjoyed great success in establishing their presence in the Middle East - a typical example is Hauff-Technik from Germany, whose products, as a result of their participation at last year's show, are currently being evaluated for major projects including the entire power supply network for Dubai International Airport."

Supported by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority and The UAE Ministry of Energy, Middle East Electricity 2007 runs from 11-14 February at Dubai International Exhibition Centre, and is open from 10am to 6pm every day.
