SYSTIMAX® Solutions 'nets' key infrastructure professionals
- Kuwait: Monday, February 12 - 2007 at 13:55
- PRESS RELEASE
Over 60 eminent IT and network professionals representing a variety of industry sectors attended the Nets Network Infrastructure Conference in Kuwait City recently.
The conference was specifically designed to allow IT and network professionals to learn about the measurable benefits the latest infrastructure technology can bring to their enterprises. A key part of the event examined the bandwidth needs of today's enterprises and the requirements of more demanding applications such as high-resolution video, grid computing and Storage Area Network/Network Attached Storage (SAN/NAS).
SYSTIMAX Solutions experts addressed delegates to explain how SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED® X10D, LazrSPEED® and the iPatch® Real Time Infrastructure Management System can enable high-bandwidth enterprise applications as well as unlock the full potential of 10G networking.
Hosting the event, Dominic Morris, Regional Channel Manager, SYSTIMAX Solutions said, "Today's consumers want instant delivery of information. They don't want to wait. Whether it is data, video or voice communications, the emphasis is on speed and quality, and that's what SYSTIMAX can provide to them."
Manufacturing more than 3,000 miles of cabling every day, SYSTIMAX Solutions places copper and fibre optic cabling solutions at the forefront of any infrastructure development. These solutions should play a central role in the planning process rather than being considered an afterthought by developers and technology providers.
In the first technical presentation of the day, Morris guided delegates through the latest Ethernet next generation total solutions and pointed out why 10 Gb/s to the desktop will be a viable option in the future. " According to our research, network performance is an important contributor to the success of any organisation and is increasingly being viewed as an investment rather than an unnecessary expense," he added.
Mark Niblett, Technical Sales Manager, MEA at Anixter, global distribution partner for SYSTIMAX Solutions, emphasised the need to install cabling solutions that would grow with infrastructure needs. He noted that, "Most fibre optic cable can only maintain performance to a length of 80 metres. LazrSPEED® can maintain 10 Gb/s performance to more than 550 metres, which would certainly service the many high-rise developments currently underway throughout the region."
Recent research from Europe has shown that property values increase once fibre optic cabling has been installed. "It adds value and is seen as a long term investment with the ability to carry more capacity in the future," concluded Niblett.
Concluding the agenda, delegates were given an informative session on the SYSTIMAX iPatch® System, the interactive, automated system for efficient physical network management. The solution allows managers to have real-time remote control over their network's physical infrastructure, higher levels of security and improved manageability when faced with situations such as disaster recovery. They also learned how this system can reduce running costs and increase productivity.
During his closing remarks, Mr. Nabil K. Siddiq, Managing Director of Nets, commented, "Network infrastructure affects all levels and types of business and it is vital that business strategy is aligned with connectivity solutions. This is no longer the exclusive domain of IT specialists since strategic solutions are often formulated and managed at board-level."
