The Tournament which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, and organised by DTCM, Dubai Sports City and IEP Sports and Leisure (IEP), took place between the 8th and 10th January at Al Nasr Sports Club. Thousands of local football fans attended the matches, the logistics and security of which were administered professionally and diligently by the local Dubai Police.
Overseeing the whole police operation was Captain Walid Bin Theban, who was received by the Organising Committee at the Dubai Sports City Office. Commenting on this acknowledgement he said: 'The Dubai Football Challenge was an extremely well-organised event enjoyed by everyone who attended and we are proud to be part of its overriding success. '
Salah Al Ansari from DTCM, said : 'The inaugural Dubai Football Challenge was a great success and many different organisations worked together to make this happen. Our special thanks go to the Dubai police and Captian Walid Bin Theban who provided excellent on-the-ground support at the stadium. '
Khalid Al Zarooni, President of Dubai Sports City, said: 'We wanted to pay a special tribute to the Dubai police as without their support we would not have been able to stage such a successful event. Dubai Sports City will be hosting a number of sporting and other events annually in the coming years and we look forward to a long-term working relationship with our police colleagues.'
Major Abdullah Hassan from the Dubai Police said: 'We were delighted to be involved in the Dubai Football Challenge and this was an excellent tournament enjoyed by thousands of fans in the Emirates.'
Dubai Police recognized by Dubai Football Challenge Organising Committee
In acknowledgement of their enthusiastic support and excellent organisation of the Dubai Football Challenge (DFC) 2007, Dubai Police received an official thank you from Salah Al Ansari, Manager Visitors Information Bureaus, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Government of Dubai and Khalid Al Zarooni, President, Dubai Sports City.
