The final batch of Hawks destined for the Royal Bahrain Air Force (RBAF), designated BT001 and BT002, have joined the previous Hawks delivered in 2006 to form part of Bahrain's integrated training system.

The Hawks, along with a package of equipment, support and training also being provided by BAE Systems, will enable the Royal Bahrain Air Force to train its frontline pilots and develop an indigenous military flying training capability.

These two aircraft, which were the first to roll-off the production line - BT001 made its maiden flight in August 2005 six months ahead of schedule - have been used to train RBAF technicians, who have undergone intensive training to prepare them in all aspects of Hawk maintenance, at BAE Systems' Technical Training Academy at Warton.

Programme Director Mark Greenhalgh said:

'The delivery of the final aircraft marks a significant step forward on the Bahrain contract. These two aircraft have played an integral part in the delivery of an integrated training solution to the Royal Bahrain Air Force, which has seen BAE Systems help create an air training wing that will train new recruits who will go on to fly front line aircraft such as the F-16.'

'The Bahrain programme is an excellent example of BAE Systems' ability to deliver an integrated solution, tailored to meet customer requirements.'
