(MoMAA) and ictQATAR.
To help support this important program, ictQATAR will be holding a public auction for the sponsorship rights to the new iPark program. The auction will take place on February 26, 2007. MoMAA and ictQATAR will hold an information session on February 18, 2007 to explain and demonstrate the auction process and to provide a draft of a sponsorship contract. An intention to bid application must be provided to ictQATAR by February 18, 2007.
"We chose the public auction process for an iPark sponsor in order to provide full transparency and openness," said Mohammed Al Emadi, iPark project manager at ictQATAR.
iPark is part of ictQATAR's bold plan to bring the latest cutting-edge communications technology and services to all Qatari citizens.
The Internet Parks Initiative is just one part of this strategy to connect people to the technology that will enhance their lives and drive economic growth. In addition to
providing the free WiFi network, ictQATAR will develop and maintain a park specific website and
provide customer support.
"iPark will allow greater internet access for our citizens, allow our parks to be centers of business and help make our parks more appealing to tourists," added Mr. Al Emadi. "ictQATAR looks forward to working with a private sector partner to help create an information-based society to benefit all."
Qatar Telecom assisted with the construction of the wireless infrastructure and will lease the lines to ictQATAR to provide the free wireless service. Numerous cities throughout the United States have established similar programs for their public parks, including New York, Seattle and Austin.
