- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 13 - 2007 at 12:58
- PRESS RELEASE
TECOM investments, and four of its entities, have been awarded the ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:1999 certifications, following a rigorous audit of its Environment, Health and Safety Management System by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an accredited third party registrar of United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS).
Abdullatif Al Mulla, CEO of TECOM Investments said: "In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, we have been in the forefront of innovation, driving initiatives of excellence with a focus on world-class environmental, health and safety management systems.
"These certifications validate our commitment to the environment and to future generations. We pride ourselves on implementing stringent health and safety codes within our entities. This significant accreditation would not have been possible without the commitment of our people and it is a reflection of the sheer hard work, determination and dedication of TECOM Investments staff. It also demonstrates our commitment to gear up for the exciting years ahead. I congratulate each and every member of the TECOM team on their successful achievement."
The regional manager for Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in Middle East Torger Baardseth says: "In our work with TECOM Investments we have experienced professional and structured work everywhere. The attitude has been influenced by getting the things to work, not only to get the certificate. You have now proved that you meet the requirements to the two standards and have control on how you influence both the external and the internal environment. An important milestone is therefore reached making you able to focus on continuous improvements".
TECOM Investments, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding, was established with the aim of developing a knowledge-based economy in Dubai, addressing a variety of industry sectors including media, ICT, biotechnology, education and energy.
