This deal with Vodafone Egypt means that the operator's subscribers will be able to record and send short voice messages to their friends, families or business contacts, in a very similar manner to sending text messages. Voice SMS fills a mobile communications gap by offering a more instantaneous, personal and language-agnostic alternative to text messaging, mobile email and traditional mobile voice calling.
The voice SMS phenomenon was started by US-based pioneer Bubble Motion. The phenomenon quickly spread across the Asia-Pacific region as major operators in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and India all introduced Bubble Motion's voice SMS to their subscribers.
'The Middle East is a large, rapidly-growing market, so working with Vodafone Egypt, one of the most progressive operators in the region, is an important step in establishing our market leadership, as we have in other regions,' stated Bill Crawley, V.P. Business Development at Bubble Motion.
Vodafone Egypt plans to use the MiniCall service to increase its Average Revenue Per User. The introduction of MiniCall service has proven very attractive to mobile operators because it gives them a simple, revenue-generating service without the need for any additional network
infrastructure.
Richard Daly, CCO at Vodafone Egypt, commented: 'Vodafone has always been first in bringing new products to market and has recognized the benefit in working with innovative partners to address specific market needs. With Bubble Motion we have been able to jointly bring MiniCall to the Egyptian market in a very short space of time. Our customers love to talk and love to send messages so MiniCall is the perfect complementary product to sit alongside our sms service which is already hugely popular. The early signs are that MiniCall will be very popular in Egypt and will become a real hit with our customers. We are delighted to have Bubble Motion as a partner.'
Sunil Coushik, Co-Founder & President of Bubble Motion commented:
'We are excited to announce this deal with Vodafone Egypt, the latest in a series of operator deals for us, helping operators differentiate their offerings with a unique, popular service and enabling consumers to communicate more efficiently and impactfully while they are mobile.'
