Henrietta Fore leads talks on new public management at Dubai School of Government

The Dubai School of Government today hosted H.E. Henrietta Fore, US Under-Secretary of State for Management in an exclusive roundtable discussion on "New Public Management", promoting debate and dialogue on effective governance.
Leading the panel discussion that involved senior public and private sector officials, Under Secretary Fore shared ideas, thoughts, and best practices from the United States, in addition to addressing a range of management issues including the role of management in a transformational global context.
Tarik Yousef, Dean of The Dubai School of Government said: "The roundtable discussion comes at an important time for the country and the region. With the unveiling of the Dubai Strategic Plan - 2015, Dubai is projected to maintain double-digit economic growth, achieve a GDP of US $108 billion and increase real per capita GDP to US $44,000 by 2015.
"Effective management of the rapidly expanding and diversifying economic sectors in the country is a key element in the delivery of the UAE's strategy for development. These talks are part of the Dubai School of Government's commitment to promote good governance in the Arab world by enhancing the region's capacity for effective public policy."
Providing varied perspectives of foreign policies of governments, Under Secretary Fore spoke about her experience in advising government agencies to adopt better practices in budgeting, finance, human capital, and procurement. She discussed management initiatives to enhance leadership, good governance, and performance in the government sector.
The Dubai School of Government has organized a number of policy forums and international conferences in collaboration with partners such as Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, since its creation in 2004.
