Dubai road tolls in July

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, February 15 - 2007 at 05:58

Dubai will introduce 24-hour road tolls from July on the heavily congested Garhoud Bridge and main Sheikh Zayed highway. Only emergency vehicles will be exempt from the toll, called Salik. The Dh4 one-way toll will be automatically deducted from pre-paid sticker tags as they pass through electronic gates. The aim is to reduce traffic congestion by 25%. The RTA claims Dubai loses over Dh1bn in traffic jams every year.
