- PRESS RELEASE
Wataniya International, the global investment and management arm of Wataniya Telecom, today showcased to an international telecom audience at the annual 3GSM exhibition taking place in Barcelona, the first advanced convergent billing system ever deployed by a telecom operator in the MENA region.
Ahmad Haleem, Chief Executive Officer, Wataniya International said: "Wataniya is the leader of innovation in its markets because it invests in cutting edge technologies and deploys them to deliver to its customers creative and relevant products and services. The convergent billing system is the first of its kind in all our markets; it will enable us to take giant steps forward in the way we innovate, giving us greater flexibility in delivering advanced packages and pricing solutions for existing and new services."
Patty Lewis, Director, Billing Solutions, Communications, Media & Entertainment, HP said: "HP Convergent Charging (HP CC) provides a single, integrated billing solution, unlike many today that are highly fragmented and inefficient. With the HP CC, HP is committed to supporting Nedjma in its twin objectives: to create new ways for people in Algeria to use their mobile devices and to deliver a superior customer experience.'
The system, HP Convergent Charging (HP CC) solution consolidates multi-platform, multi-access billing into a single package that will manage the company's total service offering from voice billing to multimedia services. The highly innovative solution is built on HP CC solution, HP servers and infrastructure, and a version of the LHS BSCS billing software and will support the advanced wireless voice and data services that Nedjma provides to over 3 million customers - including messaging, entertainment and other personalized content- rich information.
"Our investment in technology today underpins our success in the future. Nedjma's technological platform will fuel its growth and profitability and strengthen its position in Algeria," concluded Haleem.
Convergent billing solutions bring the capability to manage leveraging tariffs for a wide number of advanced services, including voice, data, Internet access and multimedia, such as video. These services, known as 'multiplay' services are being driven by innovations in today's mobile market, creating new ways for people to use mobile devices both at work and play. The solution will also support payments across a number of access points, making it easier for customers to control costs and stay in touch.
