The Board of Directors of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du) met and formerly approved the financial results for the period 28 December 2005 to 31 December 2006.
du's Chairman Ahmed Bin Byat said:
'Over the past year there has been significant investments made in building the infrastructure of the company particularly in world class networks and IT systems. In addition to investing heavily in rolling out our infrastructure we have been recruiting, building our operational capabilities and more importantly developing our human capital which will be responsible for delivering our commitment to excellent customer service.'
du's Chief Executive Officer, Osman Sultan said, 'du is breathing new life into the UAE telecoms market with a very attractive offering that provides customers with optimum value and convenience. This is an exciting time for du. Telecommunications in the UAE is on the verge of a new era of competition.
'The positive results from the Number Booking Campaign demonstrated the UAE's true desire for a choice of telecommunications provider, and we look forward to welcoming even more customers to du during 2007.'
The results come as du commences its roll out of the mobile telephone services across the UAE.
At the start of this month du announced its products, services and tariff plans and from 11 February it launched its services by allowing customers to pay online and confirm their du numbers, booked during the 055 Number Booking campaign. Customers are able to use their du line on receipt of their SIM card by courier. Large enterprise customers are being contacted directly by dedicated Account Managers.
Starting 25 February, du will have a significant presence in all seven Emirates through 9 wholly owned du shops and kiosks, 90 premium dealers and over 1,000 other points of sale.
