American Express to sponsor Dubai - The City That Cares 2002

American Express Middle East today announced that it will be one of the main sponsors of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) initiative, 'Dubai The City That Cares 2002'.
American Express Middle East will run a scratch card promotion for American Express Cardmembers who will be given a Card for every AED 100 purchase at participating outlets. The scratch and win prizes include desert safari packages, jewellery, and CDs.
In addition, Cardmembers will also be eligible to enter a raffle draw for free airline tickets by using their American Express Card when making their purchases. In honour of the holy month of Ramadan, American Express will donate 20% of the value of the prizes to charity.
"Our collaboration with Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been great over the last few years," said Rasool Hujair, Country Manager, American Express UAE, "Their annual events have proven to be highly effective in promoting business within and outside the city of Dubai."
"We hope to maintain this synergy in the years to come and continue to offer our Cardmembers value-added promotions," added Hujair.
American Express has been operating in the UAE since 1957 and has been making headlines ever since. In 1994, when loyalty programmes were mostly unheard of, the global card issuer launched the world class Membership Rewards programme in the Middle East. In May 2001, American Express introduced its first local currency credit card. American Express also took the lead in the region when it launched the first co-branded local currency card together with Dubai Duty Free.
