Muscat City Centre opens exciting Phase 1 extension with 21 top brands and multi-level car park

The first phase of the expansion of Muscat City Centre is now complete and opened to the public on 16th February.

With some of the most popular brands, Muscat City Centre reinstates it position as Oman's ultimate shopping destination.

Now open at the new extension is the biggest Home Centre of the sultanate, the popular Centrepoint with its four brands: Splash, Baby Shop, Shoe Mart and Lifestyle, leading beauty stores Areej and Missha, Bossini, Jeans West, Mexx, Trucco, Parfois and Hush Puppies.

More reputed brands will follow. Watch for Oman's first E-Max electronics store, Ted Lapidus, Vincci, Okaidi, Obaibi, Woolworth Lingerie, Charles & Keith, Hamburger Nation, Nice Opticals, Bendon Lingerie and The Crepe Cafe. 17 of these 21 brands are making their debut in Oman.

This expansion worth RO 22.5 million is all set to fulfill this demand and reinforce the fact that Muscat City Centre is the country's leading shopping centre in terms of size, abundant variety and best brands under one roof," says Graham Dreverman, CEO, MAF Shopping Malls.

The Phase 1 extension covers two levels over 15,773 square metres of gross leasable area and an exclusive multi-level parking, which can accommodate 750 cars. The Phase 2 extension is well underway and is scheduled to open in September 2007.

The massive scale of this expansion has generated a lot of interest and enthusiasm among shoppers and has also created over 100 job opportunities for the Omanis. "For the past five years, Muscat City Centre has been the favourite shopping destination in Oman. We thank our loyal customers for bearing with us through the construction. Now with the introduction of many more outlets, we are happy to bring to our shoppers an even more rewarding retail atmosphere," says Ibrahim Al Qasmi, General Manager, Muscat City Centre.

Once the Phase 2 expansion is complete, by the end of summer, the original 33,036 square meters of gross leasable area of Muscat City Centre will expand to a total of 60,484 square meters of gross leasable area. Post expansion the Centre will boast of 144 outlets and a multi-level parking lot that will accommodate 2,250 cars. A dedicated flyover will directly bring customers from the Sultan Qaboos Highway into the car park.
