The exhibition and conference, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, will cover the challenges and opportunities of high-rise urbanism.

"The conference will provide an ideal platform to educate those attending on the necessity and benefit of producing sustainable developments. It is important for developers to be aware of the exact procedures that result in a successful development.

"From conception to completion it is essential that all aspects of development are performed to the highest standards, ranging from contractors to materials to equipment. Time must be taken to ensure that every step is carefully monitored so that quality can be maintained," said Rami Dabbas, Head of Real-Estate Development, ADIA and COO, Aqaar.

Aqaar has a 36 square metre stand in the exhibition area that will display a model of its initial project, Ajman 1, a 72,000 square metre mixed use development. The AED 2.7 billion project consists of 12 freehold residential towers, a world-class hotel managed by an international operator, one freehold commercial tower, serviced apartments and a tower for leased apartments.

"We are making excellent progress and phase 1 construction is on track to begin this month with UAE-based Piling Tech LLC driving forward the enabling works. We are concentrating on making sure that a solid foundation is in place so that construction will remain on course and progress methodically so that everything is delivered on time," added Dabbas.

The entire project to be complete by 2009 strictly follows the methodology for a sustainable development. Time is being spent on the planning aspects of Ajman 1, and the company is aligning itself with reputable contractors for the entire process to maintain quality.

The exhibition will also be open to the public and visitors from the industry, and gives exhibiting manufacturers, developers and vendors the opportunity to display their projects and expertise from the Middle East and internationally.

About Ajman:

Ajman lies on the northern shores of the Arabian Gulf and forms one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. The emirate covers an area of 259 square kilometres comprising 16 kilometres of coastline and three distinct geographical regions in terms of topographical features which are Ajman City, the Masfout region and the Manama region.

Ajman lies just 20 minutes drive north of Dubai International Airport, and has the fastest growing population of all the emirates. The government has taken many steps in recent years to implement a solid infrastructure, and has succeeded in developing certain sectors of its economy with a growing free zone industrial area and a strategically located port.

With the launch of freehold developments in Ajman, the real-estate sector has experienced increased activity due to competitive pricing and its proximity to neighbouring emirates Sharjah and Dubai. The government's efforts in improving accessibility to the emirate will further fuel real-estate and tourism growth over the coming years.
