The campaign to improve safety on the roads and reduce the rate of serious injuries or deaths caused by traffic accidents, providing a free 10-point safety check-up on every car booked in for a service or maintenance work within the next 60 days.
Statistics show that worldwide, the number of people killed in road traffic crashes each year is estimated at almost 1.2 million, while the number of injured could be as high as 50 million. During 2006, 636 accidents were recorded in Dubai, resulting in many fatalities. According to recent figures issued by the Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS), children were estimated to comprise at least 12% of these deaths, an increase of 10% from the previous year.
'Unfortunately, serious injuries and even fatalities can occur in a traffic accident as a result of the lack of safety within the car that you are driving,' commented Octane After Sales Manager, Mohammad Jibahi. 'We all drive our cars under some false and sometimes dangerous assumption that our seatbelts, airbags, and electronic safety devices are all functioning properly. However, tests for the functionality of these devices are often not included in a regular service check-up. With this free 10-point safety check-up we are aiming to put safer cars out on Dubai's roads,' he further added.
Launched in August of 2006, Octane has already pulled an impressive and loyal following of customers who trust the award winning team of experts. With over 35 years of combined technical experience, Octane provides the highest level of independent quality mechanical work available for Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, VW and Peugeot vehicles.
'Given the government's gallant efforts in developing road safety initiatives, we wanted to show our support for the community and our fellow motorists. We felt that a car safety check-up would be the most direct way we could help' commented Octane Co-Founder, Rami El Malak.
As well as checking the functionality of airbags and seatbelts, the free 10-point safety check-up will include testing of suspension, tire condition, headlights, and braking system.
