Wataniya, Sprint Nextel deal

A consortium led by Wataniya International has joined with Sprint Nextel to form Sprint Nextel Middle East, which will deliver advanced wireless communications services in the Mena region. The formation of the venture is subject to certain conditions, including regulatory approvals, and the transaction is expected to be completed later this year. Sprint Nextel hopes to launch Mobile WiMAX broadband services in initial US markets by the end of the year.
