Windows Live Messenger malware

Microsoft has apologised after its Windows Live Messenger client displayed banner ads that tried to instal malware onto users' computers, VNUnet reports. The banners advertised Errorsafe, which claims to detect and repair computer problems. But it presents false security warnings to try and coerce users into buying a licensed copy of the software.
