Mr. Baabood added that the 17 year old event was usually organised under the auspices of Ministry of Transport & Communications and for the first time it will also be held under the auspices of Information Technology Authority (ITA). This confirms the growing importance of Information Technology in the country and the strategic direction the event is heading towards.
Sadiq Ahmed Khan, Director Sales & Marketing of OITE informed that COMEX Business Section will begin from 26 - 29 March 2007 and Shopper Section will begin from 26 - 30 March 2007 and the event will be held at Oman International Exhibition Centre.
Further Mr. Khan confirmed COMEX has the highest support of the Industry with Omantel and Oman Mobile as Lead Sponsors, Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) as Technology Sponsor; Nawras is the Official Mobile Service Provider.
Siemens, Ericsson and Huawei have confirmed their Platinum Sponsorship and have been a regular important patron of COMEX. Bank Muscat has signed up as the Gold Sponsor and Cartridge World as the Silver Sponsor.
The media sponsors are Oman Daily Observer and Oman Daily Arabic under the title Official Newspapers and Official Business Magazine is Business Today. Official Networking will be by IMTAC and Swift connections are the Official Clearing & Forwarding Agent.
Last year 15,000 people visited COMEX Business more than 35,000 people visited COMEX Shoppers.
OITE outlined the marketing objective for COMEX Business was to attract Corporate and Government Purchase decision makers and COMEX Shoppers objective was to attract current and future buyers of hardware, software and technology.
The organizers added that COMEX Business offers the opportunity to develop business relationships on a one-to-one basis with industry leaders in a congenial atmosphere.
Companies gear their marketing strategies around COMEX, launching new and improved models and services. The Business Section will be open 10 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 9.30 pm. It is important for visitors to note that access to business is by registration and interested visitors should carry their business cards of fill up the registration form at the counter, invites are being sent to over 10,000 potential visitors who can confirm their registration pre-event.
COMEX Shopper is exclusively for special promotions and offers on hardware, software, mobile phones, games and computer accessories. The Shoppers section will be open from 10 am to 10 pm on all days except on Friday. On Friday it will be open only in the evening hours i.e. from 4.30 pm to 10 pm. This practice has proved successful in the recent past as it provides flexible time for visitors to evaluate and complete their purchase cycle at the same time visitors from as far as Sohar and Sur can reach the exhibition and benefit from it.
COMEX to begin on March 26, 2007
Ahmed Saleh Baabood, Managing Director of OITE addressed the COMEX press conference and announced the COMEX 2007 dates. For the first time COMEX will be held in the month of March.
