- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, February 22 - 2007 at 14:42
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) showcased its international learning community at the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) Annual Conference held from 18-22 February in Washington DC.
At the conference entitled 'The Global University: Challenges and Opportunities,' Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director of Dubai Knowledge Village, discussed DKV's unique cluster of international and regional institutions, which provide quality education and training opportunities in the region.
He said: "World-class, internationally recognized education is highly sought after in the UAE, not only among UAE nationals but among expatriates of all nationalities, who generally prefer to have their children educated in the UAE, rather than overseas due to financial and social reasons as well as securing jobs locally after graduation."
Dr. Kazim told the conference the objective behind DKV's establishment was to provide access to quality education for those who cannot, or do not want to, study overseas. Initially, to minimise investment risks, a single campus was provided for many different universities.
He said the Dubai Knowledge Village provides educational institutions with the best infrastructure to offer international programmes. The opportunities available to American universities at DKV are infinite, considering the popularity they enjoy among the student community in the UAE.
Dubai Knowledge Village also explored the possibilities of establishing an AIEA Middle East and North Africa Chapter to facilitate knowledge transfer among education administrators in the region.
