Bahrain on a clear mission to further develop the insurance industry

The Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA) held its annual general meeting in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the capital of financial services in the Middle East, on Wednesday 21 of February 2007.

The meeting honored Mr. Sameer Ebrahim Al Wazzan, Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2000 and a member of the Board since inception, for his efforts and contributions to the development of the insurance sector within the Kingdom and the region. Moreover, the BIA members elected the new chairman and board of directors.

The BIA highlighted the major role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in developing the insurance and Takaful sector, which directly contributed to strengthening the kingdom's reputation as the capital of financial services in the Middle East.

The BIA members election was characterized by full attendance where Mr. Ashraf Adnan Bseisu was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr. Ebrahim Sharif AL Rayes the Deputy Chairman. Besides, several board members were assigned the responsibilities of heading different committees. Namely, Mr. Yassir AL Baharna received the responsibility of the Communications & Development Committee, Mr. Yahya Nooruddin the responsibility of the Motor Committee, Mr. Younis Jamal the responsibility of the Life, Medical & Takaful Committee, Mr. Mahdi Al Aradi the responsibility of Property, Casualty & Marine Committee, Fouad Abdullah Aziz the responsibility of Legal Affairs. In addition, Mr. Osama Saadeh was appointed as the Treasurer and Mr. Philip Dominic as the Secretary.
