GCC, EU FTA close

The free trade agreement between the GCC and the European Union should be signed this year, according to Peter Mandelson, the European Union Trade Commissioner and cited by Gulf News. Mandelson said 'technical discussions' would take place this week in Brussels but the EU had shown greater flexibility regarding rules of origin. One outstanding issue surrounds EU access to the GCC service markets.
