Emirates' Chairman meets Australian Prime Minister

In Australia on an official visit, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, today met the Australian Prime Minister, the Hon John Howard MP.

HH Sheikh Ahmed conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to the Australian Prime Minister and the people of Australia.

He also presented the Prime Minister with the first official Australian Cricket World Cup team shirt. Emirates Airline is the official sponsor of the Australian team for the Cricket World Cup which will be played in the West Indies next month. The Prime Minister, a huge cricket fan, congratulated Sheikh Ahmed and Emirates on the decision to sponsor the team for what promises to be a high-profile event locally and globally.

They also discussed business and tourism opportunities between the UAE and Australia. Sheikh Ahmed thanked the Prime Minister for his hospitality and emphasised that the sponsorship was another example of the strong relationship between Emirates and Australia.
