Carrefour goes plastic-free
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 27 - 2007 at 09:21
Shoppers at Carrefour hypermarkets in the UAE will be encouraged to use reusable bags in an attempt to reduce the number of plastic that ends up polluting the local ecosystem. MAF Hypermarkets runs Carrefour's 10 UAE outlets. Bags will be sold for Dhs2 each at the stores. Plastic shopping bags are one of the major causes of pollution and waste in the world, with some countries now charging consumers for throwaway plastic bags at outlets.
