Intercoil donates part of the worlds largest bed to charity

The Rashed Pediatric Centre and the City of Hope Shelter Home received brand new mattresses, which were disassembled from the world's largest bed manufactured by Intercoil International as part of the Record Breaking Event organized during DSF 2007.

According to Mr Hassan Al-Hazeem, Managing Director of Intercoil International, "Having accomplished the record breaking feat of building the largest bed, we were in the mood to celebrate and spread goodwill and cheer to the less fortunate. We approached these organizations and informed them of our intention and they were more than happy to receive this form of contribution."

The presentation ceremony was held at the Intercoil office in Al Quoz where both organizations received a letter with the pledge of contribution. The mattresses will then be physically transported to the respective centres via Intercoil trailers.

City of Hope Women's Shelter which provides shelter to women and children who are victims of domestic violence had requested for 20 single mattresses. According to Ms Sharla Musabih, Chairperson, City of Hope Women's Shelter, 'We are thankful to organisations like Intercoil for stepping forward and contributing to our cause. We are always in need of bedding essentials such as mattresses as our home provides temporary refuge for families and we would like to ensure that in addition to having a peace of mind, these families have a comfortable stay as well."

'Mattresses of various sizes were donated to the Rashid Paediatric Centre which provides education and therapy services to children with special needs. According to Ms Janet Graham, an official from the centre, "We are extremely grateful to Intercoil for this contribution as these mattresses will act as training aids in the therapy sessions of the children."
