Region's mail and express logistics sectors attracting global attention, says Sultan Al Mansouri

Mr. Sultan Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister for Public Sector Development and Chairman of Emirates Post said the region's booming mail and express logistics sectors were attracting increased foreign investment.
Mr. Al Mansouri pointed out that the world was now moving towards a business model based on collaboration and partnerships, and said the GCC region had a lot to learn in this new dynamic and dynamic path of development.
Mr. Al Mansouri spoke about Emirates Post's ambitious growth and diversification plans and indicated that the corporation was set to become a major regional and global player in the mail, cargo and logistics industry.
He also said that plans for an integrated GCC express mail and freight forwarding company, were taking final shape, with the cooperation of individual postal corporations and governments.
Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post, addressing the opening session on "How we can grow the Market in the Region" provided glimpses into Emirates Post's immediate plans in the field of air freight, logistics and financial services.
Mr. Daboos said the corporation will soon become a holding company (Emirates Post Group) and plans for an IPO were at an advanced stage. He also said three new companies would be set up this year, and new acquisitions would be announced soon.
In all, over 30 Chairmen, CEOs and senior directors gathered to share their thoughts on strategies to grow the market in this developing region, while looking at successes and sharing best practice in the global mail and express logistics sector.
Among the other speakers in the morning session were Fadi Ghandour, President and CEO, Aramex International and Stefano Gori, Vice President, Mail Development, Pitney Bowes.
The high-level conference is covering major issues for the mail and express logistics industries, such as trade barriers, cross-border operations, privatisation, security and business alliances.
