Coordinated meeting to ensure safety at labour camps

A meeting has been held between Dubai Civil Defence and the Dubai Municipality (Department of Public Health and Department of Environment)

The meeting discussed fire fighting, safety and prevention measures at buildings housing workers, as well as coordinated activities between Dubai Civil Defence and the Municipality to meet the strategic plan for the emirate of Dubai between 2007 and 2015 and comply with federal safety laws.

Discussion Points:
A common vision to help implement the Dubai Strategic Safety Plan 2007-2015.
Agreement on mechanisms to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai regarding improvement of living standards for workers.
Coordination between Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Labour to implement safety procedures at labour camps and workplaces.
A study to examine the benefits of involving the private sector in inspection of some aspects of fire protection standards under the supervision of Civil Defence.
Establishing e-links between concerned safety departments of Dubai Civil Defence and Dubai Municipality.
Common safety criteria for labour camps and workplaces that highlights Civil Defence and Municipality safety measures.
Civil defence to conduct training courses for municipality inspectors on inspection of fire fighting equipment, fire prevention and alarm systems and fire safety instructions violations.
The importance of strategic partnerships between departments involved in providing safety and prevention services to workers.
Delineation of each party's duties regarding safety and preventive procedures at labour camps.
Combined procedures and performance to optimise the use of human resources, technical capabilities, expertise and equipment between the two parties.
Continuation of meetings and assignment of joint working teams to follow up joint procedures.
Drafting rules to unify safety procedures and implementation between the two parties, in accordance with existing laws.
